Laura Stokes is a self taught artist from the Los Angeles Area. Her mediums include collage and wood working.

"I love to work with vintage fabrics, old images, wrapping paper, old brochures and ads, and just about anything that catches my eye. My art has taken on the forms of shadow boxes, wood altars, and collages. I often use images that are overlooked at first glance and use them in different and unique ways, a sort of way to bring new life to what would normally be discarded."

Most of the pieces are paper collage on wood, with a varnish coating to protect the images. Some of the earlier pieces are signed with my art name Velour. If you have any questions or comments please email me at info@charcoaldesigns.com.

Lucha Del Gato (2007)

*New*

$175

Cat Fight (Lucha Del Gato) developed from my love of Dia De Los Muertos, Mexican Culture, and of course Luchadores! I started with a vintage wood frame and painted all of the handcut wood pieces, including the banners and flowers. Also some vintage miniatures were added and I finished with a bottle cap border.

This piece comes framed (as shown) with a hook on back for immediate hanging.

Sea Garden (2007)

*New*

$175

Sea garden features a vintage gold colored oval frame. Vintage and new images and fabric were added (and heavily coated/protected with varnish) onto a wood background. Lucite and glass findings give this piece texture and dimension.

This piece comes framed (as shown) with a wire on back for immediate hanging.
